THANKSGIVING 2012 AT THE RANCH IS BUILDING MOMENTUM
–Compiled by Kenoli from various emails shared by people at the ranch and others
There have been emails flying about who will be coming to the ranch for Thanksgiving along with a discussion of expectations. Sounds like there is lots of interest in continuing the Black Bear Thanksgiving tradition this year.
Welcome from Chris — Hey all! Chris here, I’ve been staying at Black Bear again for the past couple of months, and have been involved on & off for the last couple of years. Figured I’d fill y’all in a bit, since we are almost on the Thanksgiving time. I hear that this year’s Summer Solstice wasn’t as hoppin’ as usual, and I would hate for that to repeat for this holyday. Thanksgiving is my personal favorite, and spending it here last year was joyful & delicious.
Date and Time — So so so, Thanksgiving! As with any other gathering I’ve spent here I’m expecting y’all to come in like a storm with hecka food and do it up nice. So for us to set a time & date seems silly, but I suppose we can say we’ll be ready for folks to start trickling in the day before Thanksgiving.
Road conditions — The roads are in good shape. Seems like a good crowd is coming and there are well stocked larders at the bear, so it’s all over but the cooking.
Projects — There are discussions going on about possible projects to do together as a group, including a project to shore up the larder where the back wall is sliding in. If you want to be part of the discussion, send an email to Black Bear blackbearranch@gmail.com and ask to be added to the discussion.
Here is a general Wish-List of things the ranch could use..!
*Honey
*Toilet paper
*Cheesecloth
*Arts & Crafts supplies
*Canning jars
*Hippie soap
*PVC cement
*Hoses
*Adjustable wrenches
*Big ol’ Crocks
*Lumber for the side of the Barn? Yeah!
*Coffee
*Terra cotta flower pots
*Useful house plants or seeds
*Second “C” string for a Piano (bit of a stretch, but I’ve been meaning to try and figure out how to fix that thing for months. Saint James Infirmary just doesn’t sound the same without it…)
*Old fun stories of Black Bear past, and ideas for Black Bear future.
*Also, we can always use pens..
So come one, come all, We’re real excited for this Thanksgiving, and hope y’all come by..
